On Monday 23rd of May we had the Musica Viva band B’TUTTA come to our school. They performed a variety of songs and taught us how to make music without any instruments. Many school students were called up to have a go of B’TUTTA’s percussion instruments. After that the teachers were asked to come up onto the stage to perform a rhythm. Everyone had a great time.

On the 18th of May, 50 students represented the school at the District Cross Country, which was held at Kembla Joggers Race Course in Dapto.
All the children ran to the best of their ability. Many improved on their result from last year.
Zane placed 4th in the under 12s, Alex placed 5th in the under 12s and Emily placed 2nd in under 10s.
Zane, Alex and Emily will represent the school and Central Wollongong District at the Regional Cross Country. It will be held at Willandra Cross Country Course, Cambewarra, Nowra. To make through to State, they will need to make the top 5. Congratulations!!!!!

On the 13th of May the school leaders attended the GRIP Student Leadership Conference at the University of Wollongong Hall. We learnt how to become a better leader by doing some activities and meeting other school leaders. Firstly, we started off by doing some introductory games that taught us the importance of teamwork. Next, we learnt about how to grow as a leader. In the next session, they taught us how everybody can have a positive influence on the community.
We enjoyed the part where Hugo got up on stage and played a part in a skit about bullying and how to take action when bullying happens.
Overall, we had a wonderful time at the conference and we would like to thank Mrs Risi for taking us to the conference.

For the past few weeks 5/6H have been holding a jellybean guessing competition. Children in the class donated bags of jelly beans. Last Thursday we announced the winner, Jessica from 1/2S. She guessed the magic number of 1241. We raised a total of $81.50 which will go towards the year six farewell. Thank you to everyone who guessed in the competition. Alexandra, Emily and Mali
A big thank you to the girls for organising the guessing competition and for giving up their time to collect the money and guesses. Mrs Hickey
