Swimming Carnival Report
On Friday 6 March I went to the Regional Swimming Carnival at Dapto swimming pool. I was the only representative of WWPS and my event was the 13 years Girls 50m Freestyle.
It was a very hot day and there were lots of students and their parents. I waited for my race with mum, dad and Mrs Hickey. There were 4 other girls in my race and I came 4th. I was beaten by only 0.14 of a second. I took 5 seconds off my PB. I was very proud to represent WWPS and it was a fun but long day.
On the 27th of March The Dragons had a visit to Wollongong West Public School to talk about key facts about your health and some interesting information about the some of the players. They showed a few slide shows about healthy eating, good food like eat fruit and vegetables and drink lots of water everyday. You also need to do fitness everyday for at least 15-30 minutes to keep fit healthy.
Next we did some quick trivia of the players, they explained their information before such as: Favourite food, after game relaxation and other questions like apple or orange. If you answered question right you got a small prize like a lunch box or drink bottle.
After we grouped up in circles. The players tried to trick us by doing a dummy at us. If we reacted by attempting to catch it, you’re out. Then we grouped up in some lines. We did some different types of relays such as running with the ball then passing it to the front of the line. The next type of relay was doing a quick grubber kick to the front of the line, basically the same as the previous relay.
After all the trivia questions and all the player information and the quick fitness session they had to leave to go to another school.

Clean Up Australia Day
On Monday 2nd March all students at WWPS participated in 'Clean Up Australia Day'. The classes collected rubbish from all around our school grounds and learnt about what garbage could be recycled. Many classes reported that the grounds were already quite clean but others found unusual garbage, including a sock! Thank you for all your hard work students and teachers. Our school looks fabulous! District Swimming Carnival
Last Wednesday, 25 February, about 40 students from Years 2-6 attended the Central Wollongong PSSA District Swimming Carnival. The weather was not very pleasant as it was raining and quite cold, but our school still did very well and had a great time. A few weeks before there was a trial carnival for students to try out and only 2 students got in for each event, so everyone at the district carnival had already tried very hard and they were already winners. Everyone had a great day and Mrs Wakeham and Mrs Hickey both did a great job and were very happy with how well we went considering the weather. Claudia is going to the Regional Carnival for the 13 yrs girls freestyle. We all had a great time and were very proud to represent our school.
Great Start for WWPS Garden Club
The Garden Club did a great job on Thursday! Parents weeded the garden bed by the hall while the small children that had come along played. It was a very enjoyable way to wait for the bell for pick-up time. Meet by the hall this Thursday at 2PM, if you would like to join in. Extra gardening gloves are available.
What a wonderful afternoon! Parents, staff and children had a great time at the P & C Welcome night on Thursday 19 February. With over 60 people in attendance the P & C volunteers were flat out cooking, serving and getting to know the families from WWPS. There was plenty to eat and drink, fun and games and some great conversations.
A huge congratulations to the following students who have been elected by their peers to represent their classes on our Student Representative Council:
These students, along with our school leaders - Sophie S, Eriks, Tayla and Henry, will be involved in a variety of activities that will encourage them to:
